PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY:  January 18-25, 2026 is the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. In the narthex is a listing of churches in the Warrenton area, and the list is attached here also. It is an incomplete listing, and you are welcome to add other churches. During this week you are invited to choose a different church each day and offer a prayer for that congregation. If you know a member of that congregation you might want to contact them and let them know that you are praying for their congregation. Thank you for drawing closer to other churches in our area through prayer.

PLEASE BE IN PRAYER:  There are several connected to Wesley Memorial who need your prayers. John Paul Taylor, highway patrolman who lives in Inez, was involved in an accident while traveling in Georgia to pick up a bull for his farm. The report is that the bull charged him, resulting in serious head injuries. Please be in prayer for John Paul and his family. Harriett Tillett, sister of Ramona DuBose, fell down a stairway and sustained several broken ribs and other injuries. She is at Duke UMC and is recovering from surgery. Ramona reports that she should make a full recovery. Please remember Harriett, her husband, Ben, and their daughter Christen, in your prayers. Finally, Steve Brooks, husband of Jennie Hunter Brooks and brother-in-law of Mary and Richard Hunter, suffered a stroke on Saturday, January 10, and is at Duke UMC, recovering and receiving treatment and therapy. Please pray for a full recovery for Steve, and keep his family in your prayers as well.

CONFERENCE TRAINING SESSIONS:  Our annual conference is offering committee training by zoom meetings. Listed below are the meeting schedules. Mary Hunter is working on plans for zoom meetings at the church, if needed, but they can also be done from home. You will need to register for the zoom meetings and the conference will send the links for the meetings. If you cannot make the meetings on that date, in early February they will send us the recordings that we can watch, but would not be able to interact with our questions. Contact Ray Gooch if you have questions.

OUT WITH THE OLD:  As you remove and pack up your Christmas decorations, please do not discard wreath forms! If you have no other use for them, you may return them to the church, to Mary Hunter or to Elaine Coleman, either as they are or “undressed,” and we will recycle them next year. We can reuse the pins too, if you dry them and place them in an airtight container. Please pass this information along to others in the community who purchased wreaths. Thanks!

NOTE CARDS AVAILABLE:  Wesley Memorial note cards have been printed and are available in packages of 5 for $5. Call or text Elaine Coleman, 252-425-5616, if you are interested in purchasing.

PLASTIC BAGS:  Please remember to bring your unwanted plastic grocery bags to the church to be passed along to Loaves and Fishes. They will make great use of all that we provide! There is a collection box in the back entrance by the church office. Thanks!
